Our mission is to raise funds that are specifically used to enable graduating seniors to further their education by awarding:

  1. ​ 1) 4-Year scholarships to Ida’s undergraduate  Alma Mater, Lincoln University - Jefferson  City, MO),  and /or 

  2.  2) Book and Travel Scholarships to qualifying  universities or trade schools.

Ida obtained a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) in 1972; a Masters of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary (New York) in 1987.

Ida’s professional career involved positions in special education with the Mobile, AL and Memphis, TN School Systems as well as Sales and Marketing positions with IBM, Exxon, Xerox and ITT. Merging career experiences, Ida became the 1st Marketing Director for United Negro College Fund (UNCF); VP and Chief Development Officer for Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund (TMSF) and Chief Fundraiser for several colleges including Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO (her under -graduate alma mater) where she served as VP for University Advancement and Executive Director of the Lincoln University Foundation (LUF).

Ida was posthumously inducted into the Lincoln University Alumni Hall of Fame, in 2005. 
Ida Ballard Simon Memorial Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity of Ballard Community Services EIN 27-1188177; Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Ida’s Legacy: Access to Education In honor of her legacy and restless efforts as a professional fund-raiser to enable higher education and her ability to encourage students to pursue educational goals beyond high school, the Ida Ballard Scholarship Fund was established by friends and siblings of Ida.
